Ernest is a lonely, scruffy, little miniature donkey who wants a best friend on the farm. Soon Twist, a big, beautiful show horse, arrives and, after giving Ernest a fair chance, the two become very best friends. I love this book for its message that unlikely friends can be the best friends of all. This book would be appropriate to use in K-4 classroom because of its message of not judging, rather accepting and befriending others, especially those who need a friend.
