This is a ”print on demand” facsimile edition of a work published in Boston in 1898, and the typeface size seems to vary between very small and tiny, between 8 and 6 points; with the text blocks occupying about one half of every ordinary pocket size page. If I had known this I would have ordered the recently published and low priced French work with the same title. The text is readable, but it takes a bit too much effort, given that the pages photographed were not that perfectly printed to begin with.
