What do you guys think about his arguments in Omnivore's Dilemma about 'industrial' organic? Do you think it's any better for either the environment (either local to the farm locale, or in general and including issues ... ... cranky in In Defense of Food. I generally don't do well with audiobooks, much prefer to read, but I so enjoyed Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma that I wanted to quickly fit in his follow-up.
But Brick sounds pedantic and snarly, definitely a contrast to Pollan's gentle and curious ... ... mode of thinking. I have heard some say that they thought the author seemed a bit "cranky" in this book as opposed to The Omnivore's Dilemma (which I haven't read yet) but I haven't encountered that yet. Of course, when it comes to the subject of the junk that is available in the ... ... and aftermath of a sex scandal at a private Vermont high school. Perhaps my favorite novel by the author to date.

#18 and #19 - I loved the Omnivore's Dilemma and liked In Defense of Food. Both made me happy to live in a country where cows eat grass, for now at least!

A much shorter, much less dense follow-up to The Omnivore's Dilemma, expanding on what we should be eating. His advice is good and easy - eat real food. I wish I could afford to live the Pollan lifestyle, but that'll have to wait until after grad ... ... of historical data, yet many disagree on classifying them as fiction or non-fiction.
Both Guns, Germs, and Steel or The Omnivore's Dilemma would more than likely not be "read" or completed. I would place both books in the non-fiction section of my library. Both of these books could be ... ...
I think we have different definitions of either "non-fiction" or "read".
In what sense can Guns, Germs, and Steel or The Omnivore's Dilemma not be "read"? I certainly read the notes (and not all non-fiction has notes, for that matter), if that's your sticking point. Or do you think all ... ... really surprises me because I loved Manny in Last Night at the Lobster.

Odd how the second touchstone is broken. I am working on The Omnivore's Dilemma : a natural history of four meals by Michael Pollan interesting book about food and how it is produced, very eye opening and a little sickening.

I bought The omnivore's Dilemma on the strength of clam's raving about it and now that will compete wih Alice in Wonderland - an interesting contrast, but some strange common threads. I bought The Omnivore's Dilemma today from my favorite small book store. She is having to move to a new location because her current rent is going up so much. Well, I'm slowly moving along here. I enjoyed both of these nonfiction works. Yep I guess 1 and checked, I've read omnivore's dilemma as my sole non-fic offereing which is just over 2.5% of my reading. I also recently finished Omnivore's Dilemma. It was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the parts about eating local foods.
