#59 - Errr, um... maggie, I haven't read The Omnivore's Dilemma yet. I was raving about In Defense of Food by the same dude.
Odd how the second touchstone is broken. I am working on The Omnivore's Dilemma : a natural history of four meals by Michael Pollan interesting book about food and how it is produced, very eye opening and a little sickening.

17. The Omnivore's Dilemma
Well, I'm slowly moving along here. I enjoyed both of these nonfiction works. Yep I guess 1 and checked, I've read omnivore's dilemma as my sole non-fic offereing which is just over 2.5% of my reading. I also recently finished Omnivore's Dilemma. It was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the parts about eating local foods.

The omnivore's dilemma does a reasonable job of explaining how the situation in the US has led to corn (maize) being cheaper to buy than it is to grow, and why farmers still continue to produce it. Pollan explains it is not the farmers who have sought this, but a combination of agri-business and ... I'm on The Omnivore's Dilemma so far it's bleak!
Also skimming thourgh When Jack sued Jill which is caustic poetry, for the Go Review That Book Group.
Just one favorite thus far: The Omnivore's Dilemma. GT: The Omnivore's Dilemma (highly recommended, and I've met my goal for G!)
