Book description
This "Catechesis on Marriage and Celibacy in the Light of the Resurrection of the Body" was presented by His Holiness in his weekly general audiences from November 11, 1981, to July 4, 1984. Pope John Paul II explains that "the words of the Gospel (cf. Mt. 22:24-33) in which Christ refers to the resurrection ... are of fundamental importance for J.mderstanding marriage in the Christian sense and also the 'renunciation' of conjugal life 'for the kingdom of heaven.'

"In the resurrection the body will return to perfect unity and harmony with the spirit.... The resurrection will consist in
the perfect participation of all that is physical in man in what is spiritual in him. At the same time it will consist iri the perfect realization of what is personal in man.''

This volume is the third in a series by Pope John
Paul II on the theology of the body. Also available are:
Preceding volumes:

Original Unity of Man and Woman-Caiechesis on the Book of Genesis.

Blessed Are the Pure of Heart-Catechesis on the Sermon on the Mount and Writings of St. Paul.

Reflections on Humanae Vitae: Conjugal Morality and Spirituality.
