I love Ebb and Flo! This book has a plot, good "values", and nice illustrations. It shows life by the sea, which is a different setting than most picture books. When I read this book with my daughter, I felt that I was right there on the boat with Ebb and Flo and her mother - going out to seal island to find the seal's mother. I enjoyed this book tremendously and so did my daughter. ( )

Amazon.com Amazon.com Review (ISBN 0689843682, Hardcover)

As the rain pitter-patters and the wind whooshes on her family's houseboat, Ebb the dog longs for someone to play with. Unfortunately, her human friend Flo is busy painting pictures, Bird is chatting with the ducks, and Mom is doing some repairs on the boat. But suddenly, among the pitters and patters, Ebb hears another sound: "Wah! Wah!" Investigating, the friendly pooch discovers a new friend: a baby seal! After an exuberant day of play, Ebb heads home--but the seal won't leave her. Could this baby be lost? In her third sweet title about the adventures of Ebb and Flo, after Ebb and Flo and the New Friend and Ebb and Flo and the Greedy Gulls, Jane Simmons tells another simple tale about friendship. The charm of these picture books is in the quiet plots and luminous illustrations, a recipe sure to make new friends of every young reader. (Ages 3 to 7) --Emilie Coulter
