Pilot Kip Webster volunteers his plane and his time flying people in need to where they need to go on Angel Flight East. He puts his money where his faith is, helping those less fortunate than himself. But he steers clear of romantic attachments, believing that his family history condemns him to a solitary lifestyle. When he meets young widow Sarah Bates and her tiny daughter Grace, he's tempted to set aside his convictions, but can't quite bring himself to take the risk.

Sarah isn't looking for miracles. Life has taught her that God doesn't necessarily listen - she's had more than her share of disappointments. Estranged from her missionary parents, married only a few weeks when her husband deployed Iraq, alone for the early delivery of baby Grace.... She's attracted to Kip, but can see why he might not want to get involved with her. And yet, she feels a connection, too.

Welsh has crafted a story with likable, believable characters. The faith her characters display, and the issues they face feel real, and the story itself reads well. Definitely not run of the mill. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0373874820, Mass Market Paperback)

Pilot Kip Webster usually flew as far as possible from romance. So when one of his passengers caught his eye, it knocked the wind out of him. Recent widow Sarah Bates and her tiny daughter made him long to be a part of a family. But not sure he could offer them a future, Kip worried that he would hurt Sarah in the long run. Yet he couldn't deny their connection—or resist helping her as she started over. Could his bachelorhood be the next thing to fly away?
