A kindly clergy couple and a rural English vicarage in the mid-twentieth century. Decorating the church for Easter, the parish fete, collecting jumble with the Scouts' trekking cart ...

Lorna Hill uses her own experiences as a vicar's wife as the setting for this gentle book and it's this that I think makes it memorable for most readers. Delightful. ( )

First words
