I wonder if it was originally written in French and translated into (British) English? It seemed poorly written (in parts). The "story-line" seemed to jump around a lot; the history was told very quickly and crudely. It might have made more sense if the martyrs' lives were explained / discussed at the BEGINNING of the book, versus in the middle.

I really don't like how I, kind of, plowed through it at the end just to be done with it . ( )
