L' armistizio dell' 8 Settembre 1943 tra l' Italia e gli alleati Anglo-americani non fu la fine della guerra per gli Italiani. L' armistizio, al contrario, era la premessa ad una nuova, lunga e sanguinosa battaglia in Italia. Essa, per gli italiani, fu da una parte una guerra di liberazione e dall' altra una guerra civile. La maggioranza degli Italiani desideravano ardentemente l' indipendenza e la libertà, e scelsero di combattere contro due nemici: l' invasore tedesco e l' oppressore Fascista. Il volume si propone di trattare l' argomento analizzando con precisione gli eventi che accadero nelle zone della Toscana e della Linea Gotica. ( )
