I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is also an odd addition because it is an autobiography, not a novel.
#18 is I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. I loved this autobiography that seemed so much more than its 244 pages! I laughed and cried and ached for her in this coming of age classic.

Though I probably will not get a chance to read it this week, I borrowed I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings from the library.
I've left Madrid and The Club Dumas and detoured to Arkansas with I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou to celebrate Banned Books Week. In a day or two I'll be in Iceland with Jar City.

I never thought the 1001 was only fiction. There are other non-fiction works. Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings comes to mind off the top of my head; Rousseau's Confessions is basically a memoir; I'm certain there's tons more.
