... Winterson's Sexing the Cherry is toward the top of my TBR pile (it's my first Winterson read). I read Wodehouse's Right Ho, Jeeves and The Code of the Woosters this year--both were good, of course, but "Right Ho" was particularly funny.
As well, I'll be reading my first Agathie Chr ... A very nice man in brown delivered Right Ho, Jeeves right to my door, completely unbidden ;-)
He also had Volumes 1 & 3 from Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. Amazon was out of 2, so I had to order it from another seller.
ETA: ooh, ooh, Talbin, you're starting Mallory!!!! Let us know ... #7: Right Ho, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse.
I have a deadline coming up on a composition--end of the month. In desperation, I had to disallow myself from reading for a couple of weeks while I played catch-up. It has been forever since I've been that long without reading something, and it was ... ... had to be at a public boys' school in Britain before 1920 to really 'get'. But try - oh, maybe Three Men and a Maid, or Right Ho, Jeeves, or Indiscretions of Archie... and go on from there :) Ending Up by Kingsley Amis
Casino Royale by Ian Fleming (after the recent film)
Greenmantle by John Buchan
Right Ho, Jeeves by P G Wodehouse (Continuous re-cycling of these)
Catcher in the Rye by J D Salinger
Waiting in the wings are the Aubrey/Maturin books and A Dance to the Musi ... ... by H G Wells (read by Alex Foster) - not bad
My Man Jeeves by P G Wodehouse (read by Mark Nelson) - pretty good
Right Ho, Jeeves by P G Wodehouse (read by Mark Nelson) - pretty decent
The Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope (read by Andy Minter) - excellent
Northanger Abbey ... 18. Right Ho, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse
19. Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs
20. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie ... me doubled over laughing a few times.
The secret diary of Adrian Mole, aged 13 3/4 by Sue Townsend is hysterical.
Right Ho, Jeeves and The Inimitable Jeeves are some of Wodehouse's most priceless material. Very dry, very British and absolutely great.
and of course, you can't have ... ... n
The Complete Maus - Art Spiegelman
Karma - Holly A Harvey
Deception - Randy Alcorn
Audio Books:
Right Ho, Jeeves - P. G. Wodehouse
Northanger Abbey - Jane Austen
Of course, there have been a couple of really dull ones and even a couple that I found ... ... by David Hume - I got onto a bit of a philosophy kick lately...this was really good though, and extremely readable
Right Ho, Jeeves by P.G. Wodehouse
Leave it to Psmith also by Wodehouse - both lots of fun, of course
Murder in Amsterdam by Ian Buruma - I highly recommend ... ... of the reference notes at the back is a must. hence, i'll prolly take quite a few weeks on it..
Ooh, and I stumbled upon Right Ho, Jeeves in my library! Am so pleased :) ... I'm just past the middle of Leave it to Psmith, two thirds through Moby-Dick, and almost finished with an audiobook of Right Ho, Jeeves (for knitting...alas, it seems impossible otherwise to read and knit at the same time). But there are loads of other books I've read some of and put down ... ... The books follow no real order, but Life with Jeeves (it includes The Inimitable Jeeves, Very Good, Jeeves, and Right Ho, Jeeves) is a good place to start.
I second The Complete Sherlock Holmes. ... depressing! I'm thinking about trying it again as an audio book.
Anyhow, I'm still working my way through Lolita, and Right Ho, Jeeves by Wodehouse. I have to be in the right mood for each of them!
