I'm in the middle of an ARC that I just can't seem to want to pick up The Power Makers by Maury Klein and I'm supposed to read Njal's Saga for Penguin Group. I'm almost glad I didn't get a September book - no, I AM glad. Enough ... ... thinking that about a book in a very long time - that the title didn't match the book.

Currently reading Kilter, more great stories, The Collected Poems by Sylvia Plath, and Power Makers, a nonfiction account of Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse, among others. ... - she writes well - the storyline so far just isn't my cup of tea. I'm going to stick it out though. And I'm STILL reading The Power Makers. It really is interesting - it's just LONG! ... clearly in mind since I originally read it in about 1994,then re-read about 3 years ago.

I'm reading The Power Makers in fits and starts. Can't take too much of it at one time - my head will explode!! So, I'm also reading City of Refuge, another ARC. I'm liking it so far. I'm reading City of Refuge and quite enjoying it. I'm also reading The Power Makers. It's really interesting, but it's really LONG - and just full of technical jargon. So, it's a little slow going but I WILL prevail!! LOL ... time periods, and the various plots quite nicely. All in all a good read.
So far in August I'm reading Eclipse, The Power Makers, and anticipate starting The Heretic's Daughter, an ARC, and The Road for bookclub.

I've heard it's a little heavy going, so I'll probably read something light on the van pool. ... but I have a sneaking feeling that it's going to actually be The Gargoyle. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to get through The Power Makers. It's not bad, it's just a little over my head at times, and slow going because of that. ... bookclub meeting even though I won't get to go because that's my daughter's 15th birthday.

The technical detail in the first five chapters is overwhelming, and I was a chemical engineering major in college! If it's this difficult for me, I can only imagine what non-technical people must be going through. Well, I put that one down. I am reading an ARC called The Power Makers by Maury Klein and am finding it fascinating. It's slow going, though, so I'm romping through Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I bought it for my ... ... check out at the library. Instead, I try to focus on those ARCs about to be released or already released. I'm working on The Power Makers and The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher now. If I didn't have some kind of system to handle the book traffic, I would be in a panic!
Gwen Power Makers is sitting near the bottom of the ARC pile. I hope to get to it soonly... by the end of July, anyway. I just started The White Mary which is good, but not awesome. :-D

It's rare I can find nonfiction books that publishers will give out to laymen, so I want to give this one my ... ... book. I really appreciate the ARC's, for that reason if no other. (Still not sure what I was thinking when I requested The Power Makers, yikes..its a massive tome...)
I should say though, that I feel the primary obligation to LT ER, since I think it reflects badly on this whole community ... I got The Heretic's Daughter and The Watercooler Effect yesterday as well, but I'm still waiting for The Power Makers - and it's the first I requested from Shelf Awareness. I've started The Watercooler Effect and am already impressed by the readability of this book on what could be a very dry ... Holy Moly! I received The Heretic's Daughter, The Power Makers and The Watercooler Effect yesterday. I emailed all of them via ads on Shelf Awareness. Anysia, I received The Power Makers which was offered in an SA ad a few weeks ago. I got confirmation from the publisher that I would be getting a copy.

It looks really good. :-D ... and I used to read the dictionary, esp. the J's, Q's and Z's, to improve my GAME.
