Book 75: Inkheart by Cornelia Funke (***). Contrasted with the 550-page American Wife, this 530-page children's book was the slowest trudging ever! I simply couldn't get into the story. Ha! "get into" -- is ironic because this is a story about a man who can read characters out of a story ...

Book 73: I was interested in Curtis Sittenfeld's American Wife (****) (a fictional bio/memoir of Laura Bush) in order to explore a wife's reactions to a husband who is widely unpopular and disrespected. The question in Sittenfeld's novel is a little different: to what extent is the woman herself ( ...

I agree, Nickelini, the choices seem to be, literally, "all over the map". American Wife. Child 44, Arctic Chill. Home, and The Enchantress of Florence all on the same list?!!!

52. Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld. I saw this on amazon when I was looking at the reviews for American Wife and then found it at the library. It was a really uncomfortable read because it took me right back to my nerdy, miserable teenage years which I've been trying so hard to forget! I was ...

Yes, all the wives are confusing, aren't they?! But American Wife was great. I'm still undecided about which ereader to get (although as neither the Sony or the Kindle is currently available here, there wouldn't be much I could do even if I'd made a firm decision!). I do tend to buy most of ...
