Ben recieves a birthday present from his friend Jason. The present is meant as a gag gift, but things turn strange. The package contains some strange stones and predictions about the future. The two boys, along with a friend eventually tell their parents about everything, and although the parents make them tell the police, no one really believes a word of what they have said.

It was a cute book, but I am not a big sci-fi fan.

I would have students draw their own pictures of aliens to display in the classroom. ( )

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0395697190, Hardcover)

Ben is excited and more than a little nervous when he receives a strange package on his birthday. Inside are photographs of himself . . . with an alien! The other contents are just as weird-a note, a tape, and two warm vein-covered rocks. Even when he finds out that his friend Jason ordered the gift from a "Wanna Buy an Alien?" ad in a tabloid, Ben can't shake the feeling that it's all real-especially when events begin unfolding just as the contents of the package had predicted. This entertaining and suspenseful sci-fi chapter book, illustrated with black-and-white drawings, will keep readers guessing at the truth right to the hair-raising surprise ending.

(retrieved from Amazon Mon, 18 Apr 2011 02:20:07 -0400)

For his eleventh birthday Ben receives an offer of a ride to the planet Cham with an alien named Iku, and when the appointed meeting time arrives he is not sure if he faces an exciting opportunity or horrible danger.
