I just didn't really know that book stores hired "Event Coordinators." I am originally from Southern California, so the Valley locale was fairly familiar to me. Also, I do crochet and there was a lot of crochet in the book, more than I had expected, and I loved it. I can see, though, that this might be a drawback to someone who is not involved or interested in getting involved in the craft. In this book, the first in the series, Molly is a crochet novice, but she is confidently crocheting granny squares by the end of the novel. I thought the mystery itself was average, but I look forward to reading more in the series. I picked this book up from the library as I have a new found interest in crochet and thought it would be a laugh. It just proved to me that I'm not really a cozy fan. I like murder mysteries, always have. And this falls in line with the crafty side of me. no reviews | add a review

While that might sound like a pan, it is more a peg for the kind of book I found it to be. Read in just over a day, easy, pleasant in a silly way, a relief from the heavy historical research books I've read lately.
Would I recommend? Sure, for your crafty, crochet friends. Is it a good mystery? Nope. But with the quirky characters, semi-familiar locales to a California person, it is a fun read and worth a couple hours of your time. (
