This Dicks novel, however, is a completely different story. This is far and away one of the best of the Doctor Who novelisations.

With the suspenseful guerilla war and collaboration of The Controller tale as The Daleks try and run the place with minions and the assistance of traitors.

A quite gripping story in general, and if you were just going to try one Doctor Who novel, this would be a fine selection.

This is the most owned Doctor Who novelisation on LibraryThing, and certainly one of the best ones. Ian has written of the sharp contrast between the tense novel, especially the excellent characterisation of the Controller, and the much less convincing TV original. Well worth it. ( )
