The Hunger Games Catching Fire Graceling Fire by Kristin Cashore(bad touchstone for Fire) Marcelo in the Real World When You Reach Me The Graveyard Book

I was lost in Kristen Cashore's Fire during all my free time this weekend. It was sooo good! I loved it, even more than Graceling. I know that I had wanted to see a sequel, versus a prelude, to "Graceling," but now I would really, really like to see something that goes with "Fire" more. Or ...

I'd try Robin McKinley (The Hero and the Crown, The Blue Sword, Beauty, Chalice) and Kristin Cashore (Graceling, Fire). Possibly also Megan Whalen Turner (The Thief and sequels). Good luck!

65. Graceling by Kristen Cashore After seeing a lot of recommendations on LT and looking for a light, entertaining read, I decided to read this romantic fantasy. I enjoyed the first half of the book, although I would have liked a bit more world-building. The characters with their ...

October: 59. Kristin Cashore: Graceling I wasn't completely sure if I would like this book as I purchased it, but it was fantasy and it was YA, so I gave it a chance. I had heard good things about it from LT HEer friends. One of the reasons why I chose to read this book next was because I ...

I know that problem! In addition to many of those identified above, Graceling and Fire by Kristin Cashore have become favorites, as have Jim Butcher's Dresden Files.

I'm in the middle of The Andromeda Strain by Michael Crichton, and I'm surprized by how much I like it. I've also got Graceling by Kristin Cashore on CD in my car, and I'm ready to start The Handmaid's Tale as soon as I can! Handmaid's comes to me on recommendation because of my love for ...

Graceling is incredible, alcottacre-I can't recommend it more! 103. The Cruelest Month by Louise Penny My favorite of the series yet. Loved the atmosphere, the twists and turns, the moments between Gamache and Beauvoir, the showdowns, and the revelations.

#80 foggi: I saw that in Borders! My mom looked at the cover and suggested it to me the day I went there for Graceling. It made me laugh. :) Those covers really make me think of Cinda Williams Chima's The Heir series. I seem to remember that either you, espy, or both of you are fans of the ...

I'm reading Fire by Kristen Cashore (the companion to Graceling, K!). So far, I don't like it as much as I liked Graceling, but it's still good. It took me a little longer to get sucked into the story, possibly because the main character feels so "other" to me. (Edited to fix touchstone ...

I'm taking Graceling with me to work to read today. (Not to read while working, of course. ;)

I have Graceling sitting on the table next to my couch waiting patiently to be read. One of these days, I may actually get to it!

... shore The only thing that would have made this book any better would have been seeing more characters I love so much from Graceling. This book was really amazing-every character was incredibly well-drawn, and the story was gripping.

I've started Graceling based on all the recommendations. Interesting so far.

... seen so many good posts/reviews about the story, I'm really looking forward to it. Today I'm starting another YA book, Graceling by Kristin Cashore which I've also seen good buzz about here on LT.

I've finished Armed and Magical by Lisa Shearin and am moving on to Graceling by Kristin Cashore. I've heard good things about Graceling here and am looking forward to it.

... are richer. The world is more complex and more foreign than the world of Twilight. Twilight was like popcorn; Fire and Graceling are more "protein-rich".

Thanks kmartin. Sounds like a reasonable assessment of Graceling. I do get some very mature grade 8s looking for something beyond a typical public school library. So, at least, I can recommend it even if I don't have it. How do you rate Twilight series, just for comparison sake?

... like fantasy, I might also recommend Alison Croggon's Pellinor quartet, which starts with The Naming, Kristin Cashore's Graceling, and Maria V. Snyder's 'Study' trilogy starting with Poison Study. None of these are abnormally long, but they're not very small books either.

... hopefully be only a trilogy cos i don't think she'll manage to believably stretch it out beyond that. >15 I'd reckon Graceling would be suitable for anyone over 12 (i'm not sure what ages are in Grades 7 & 8 being british but i'm guessing it's fairly similar to the corresponding year 7/8) ...

I've been hearing a lot about Graceling lately. Is it appropriate for the YA section -grade 7s & 8s - in a K-8 school?

Just started Graceling's prequel or companion Fire. Very good so far.

I've started Blood Promise and also have Graceling out from the library.

I just read Graceling as well, and enjoyed it very much except for one or two minor points. I think the best of the "girl who can fight, goes on a quest and discovers herself" theme is the Song of the Lioness Quartet in which all four books were well written and consistent; I find that ...

#18 Graceling by Kristin Cashore Rating 5 out of 5 stars Review: loved this book, hated it to end. more later

I've given up on keeping a list of the books that were on the list and are now read. It's not really worth the effort.

This month, I've read Graceling and LOVED IT. So creative, fresh, and a solid fantasy-genre read. Right now, I'm reading The Book Thief, and while I am enjoying it, I'm having a bit of a tough time with the length and slow pace of the book. Next up, Escape to Witch Mountain, in time for ...

cmt, I would be interested to see what you think of Five Quarters of an Orange. It sounds interesting! As for disturbing books, I agree. Perfume fits the bill. The writing was gorgeous... in a creepy, unsettling way. Interestingly two of the books that I've already read this year (Blindness ...

Hi all, I'm new to the group and quietly adding my own little list to the bunch. I have never successfully kept track of how many books I've read throughout the year, so I don't really know how many to shoot for. But 75 seems as good a starting point as any! Here are the books I've read so far. I ...

I finally got my copy of Graceling today, straight from The Book Depository! I cannot wait to read it. I've heard so many good things, including the comment that Kristin Cashore writes like Tamora Pierce. I grew up reading the Song of the Lioness Quartet, so I'm very optimistic!

I finished Graceling and liked it a lot, although I think my expectations may have been a bit too high after hearing all the hype because I didn't enjoy it quite as much as I expected to. Last night I started The Perks of Being a Wallflower and only put it down because it was 3 AM and I had to ...

Welcome to the group! Graceling is one of the books I hope to read this year if I can ever wrest it away from my daughters.

Welcome. I've got Graceling and The Hunger Games in my TBR pile. What did you think of them?

Bought Graceling by Kristin Cashore and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, after resisting for many months (I was waiting for the paperbacks). Absolutely can't wait to start them!

I started Graceling by Kristin Cashore after seeing it recommended several times on this site. I'm only about 50 pages in but I really like it so far.
