... where things are just 'not right'. This is an odd concept to get across, but here goes.... I was recently reading Just after sunset by Stephen King, and there's a story in there called 'N.', which is told in letters, newspaper articles etc, about a man who may or may not be mad who has ...

... it.....in fact, I don't even own it yet. I plan on asking Santa for it!!! Meantime, I have his collection of shorts Just After Sunset in the cue for a read. Just picked that one up at one of my used haunts! Good to hear from you. Hope life in the frozen north is good!

... in on the Stephen King chat. I thought Cell was okay and enjoyed Duma Key but could not get into Lisey's Story or Just After Sunset. I read a lot of King in the 80s and then stopped reading him for a while. My favorite of his is Bag of Bones but I know a lot of people didn't like ...

... which I loved and I got back in the groove with him. He is not as consistent as early on, I didn't care for Cell or Just After Sunset but I loved Lisey's Story and Duma Key, so I feel his writing has gotten stronger but just not with every book. It's funny how that works!

Mark: I didn't know Stephen King had a new collection of short stories Just After Sunset. I'll have to pick it up sometime. I really like his comments about the stories that he usually has with his short story collections.

Hi Mark: Thanks for the offer of Just After Sunset, but I almost never read short stories. I have his son's short ghost stories - 20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill, and haven't even cracked that one. I just got Bag of Bones from Bookmooch yesterday. I've had City and White Rhino ...

Hey Karen- Speaking of Mr. King, I was planning on putting Just After Sunset on BM, it's his latest short stories collections, so let me know! And as far as his earlier books, you can't go wrong with at least the 1st 4 or 5. BTW, both of your new books are high on my "Want" list! Nice catch!

Just After Sunset -- short stories by Stephen King -- A new collection of stories from the "Master of Horror". A fairly mixed bag in terms of genre: supernatural, suspense, gross-out, subtle horror. Likewise, a somewhat mixed bag of quality, but overall I enjoyed reading it. I haven't been ...

... Saints and her escape with her eight children. Some editing flaws (a fair bit of repetition) but a powerful tale. Just After Sunset by Stephen King A short story collection with a nice mixture of horror, suspense and emotion. Also includes a "sneak preview" of his latest novel. ...

"Nice, another mess to clean up." Just After Sunset by Stephen King "The question is, what do we do now?"

... I would say no to Duma Key, definitely no to Cell, very much no to Regulators, but yes to Everything's Eventual, Just After Sunset, and definitely Lisey's Story. I do think that if one reads King, though, with a voice in one's head of doubt and preconceived irritation about his ...

#29: What was the name of the story? Is it in Just After Sunset? I'm curious to read it now. I can say the one Mormon girl I know does swear funny like that. If you want to read something of Stephen King's with believable child characters, I'd recommend The Shining. He may slip now and ...

And Just After Sunset comes out in paperback tomorrow! (Or this past Saturday, if you go to my grocery store.)

Suspenseful Stories 1. Just After Sunset by Stephen King (started 10/29/09 -- finished 11/01/09) 2. Kill Chain by Meg Gardiner (started 11/04/09 -- finished 11/07/09) 3. Lying with Strangers by James Grippando (started 11/10/09 -- finished 11/12/09) 4. The Furies by Bill Napier (st ...

I'm very jealous. I'm looking forward to reading it. I liked Cell, but loved Duma Key and Just After Sunset. It seems the longer the book the better it is. So my question is it pre-ordering now, or should I wait till Christmas when someone will most likely buy it for me. :)

... of that one, of course (except for me! I'm a cheapo that waits for the paperback. I'm just now looking forward to Just After Sunset...).

73vv. Just After Sunset by Stephen King I've always found King's shortstories to be worthwhile, and for me this was a fascinating mix of literary suspense and traditional King-style horror. About half of the stories, while of dark content, just aren't horror--they are good, though. Readin ...

... Everything's Eventual for the Dark Tower story and 1408 (which I thought wasn't as good as the movie). I actually own Just After Sunset but haven't read it yet.

Finished Just AFter Sunset, Stephen King'scollection of short fiction which got better and better as I listened to more stories. The readings were uniformly excellent.Probably the best reader was Ron Mclaretywho apparently does lots of audio books. I'm planning on starting a new (for me) ...

I'm almost finished Stephen King's Just After Sunset and I'm incredibly surprised at how literate and fun these stories are. I don't like all of them but a lot of them are great, suspenseful and really well written.

alans in Audiobooks : Longest Audios (Jun 9, 2009, 3:15pm)

My current listen is my longest-15 hours-Just After SunsetStephen King'sstories. I was looking up War and Peacethis morning and was amazed at how many discs it entails. You people are incredible. I don't know how I would handle thirty discs for a book.

I've been listening to Just After Sunset, Stephen King'slatest collection of short stories. All of the stories start out wonderfully, with thrills and great suspense, but by the end they just peter out like bad episodes of The Twilight Zone. He never seems to be able to complete his stories ...

Just finished Just After Sunset by Stephan King. Starting The Last Bridge by Teri Coyne my early reviewers book.

I didn't know The Cat From Hell was in Just After Sunset. (I'm waiting for the mass market paperback.) FYI: That story was adapted for the Tales From the Darkside movie years and years ago.

... I always though his true gift for scaring the pants off of people lay in his short stories. By the way, has anyone read Just After Sunset? What did you think of The Cat From Hell? I look at cats in a completely different way now...

... a dark fantasy...) This cat story you're talking about wouldn't be The Cat From Hell, would it? I read that story in Just After Sunset and holy hell did it freak me out. It also reaffirmed my dislike for animals of the feline variety (I'm definitely a dog person). That was a very scary ...

I finished Just After Sunset, Stephen King's latest set of short stories. It was pretty good, but not up to the standard he has set on his last couple books. Maybe, I prefer the novels. I started a nifty crime thriller called Severance Package by Duane Swierczynski, that a couple ...

20) Just After Sunset by Stephen King *** This is a good short story collection, with a couple real gems, but not on the same high level as Lisey's Story & Duma Key.

06. Just After Sunset by Stephen King // 398 pages. Stephen King delivers an astonishing collection of short stories, his first since Everything's Eventual six years ago. As guest editor of the bestselling Best American Short Stories 2007, King spent over a year reading hundreds of stories. ...

... wasn't that long ago I re-read it. Quite frankly I'm just not in the mood to plow through another tome so soon. I'm reading Just After Sunset until I'm ready to start another novel.

... Courant? Anyway, as a fan of Stephen King I'd have to say he would own in a short story competition. Check out Just After Sunset, his self-admitted return to the field of short stories. Of course, I haven't read anything by Stephenie Meyer. Blind loyalty is great.

... King I haven't read are a few short stories here and there (he's hard to keep up with) and that collection you just read, Just After Sunset. The Shining is a favorite. Couldn't finish the movie for years (the Kubrick version) because of the twins asking Danny if he wanted to play. Then ...

I've just started Just After Sunset by Stephen King. Sometimes I like his short stories better, because he struggles with his endings on his longer works. I think a short story forces him to tighten up his writing a lot.

I enjoyed your review of Stephen Kings "On Writing". I have this in waiting next to his book, Just After Sunset: Stories (2008). I've recently rediscovered Stephen King after reading most of his books as a teenager. I must admit I got a little tired of his style while reading It, shortly after ...
