... topic, but does anyone know if 94's The Luminous Life of Lilly Aphrodite is the same book (just the British title) as Glimmer Palace? They SEEM the same.

... . . well, time will tell I suppose. I did manage to finish another book though, so I have not yet lost all hope. 81. The Glimmer Palace by Beatrice Colin Growing up in the early decades of twentieth century Berlin couldn't have been easy. Doing it as an orphan? Forget it. Yet ...

#37 Sweetsmoke, by David Fuller***historical fiction, Civil War #38 The Glimmer Palace, by Beatrice Colin**historical fiction, early 20th century.

I just finished Glimmer Palace. I started fairly ambivalent, but I was surprised by the end to realize that I was rather enjoying it and really wanted to know where the story was going to go. It really sort of snuck up on me.

... on Deception of the Emerald Ring (nursing that one until I receive Seduction of the Crimson Rose from Amazon) and Glimmer Palace, but today I added Great Peacemakers, which I need to review for ReaderViews. It will be an easy one to fit in here and there, it consists of basically 4-p ...

... still in England (now in Ireland, actually) with the Pink Carnation, but I'm also in Berlin at the turn of the century in The Glimmer Palace.

I started reading the first few pages of Glimmer Palace this morning. So far so good, although a bit too early to tell. I'm hoping to finish it and review it at least somewhere NEAR the release date (Thursday).

I just started Glimmer Palace, which I have had forever and which is being released in 2 days (I thought I'd better get to it...). I have only read for about 5 minutes in my car outside work, so it is too early to tell about the story, but the writing doesn't seem to be half bad.

20. The Glimmer Palace by Beatrice Colin. Possibly the most downer, depressing book I've read this year. Nothing good ever seems to happen to the main characters. I understand that Berlin during and after WWI was not a pleasant place, but my goodness the characters in this book get knocked ...

In no particular order: 1. The Glimmer Palace by Beatrice Colin 2. The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry 3. Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill 4. Salome by Oscar Wilde 5. Sarah by Orson Scott Card Overall I'd say it's been pretty weak for good books though. As I looked ...

... I, robot, although I'm hoping robot will pick up in the next few days. But interspersed I also had The Lace Reader and The Glimmer Palace, both of which were excellent, so it really seems to be hit or miss! More clunkers than usual, but some good ones too. http://fashion-piranha.livejour ...

Just started The Glimmer Palace by Beatrice Colin. Its set in turn-of-the-century Berlin, which is a fascinating setting/time period, but so far the story is just so-so.

... it. The fact that it wasn't means I won't be pulling this one off the shelves and insisting someone read it. Next up: The Glimmer Palace and The White Mary

... laughing throughout this book. Plus, I love all the crap Hugh puts up with from him. Next up: The Aviary Gate and The Glimmer Palace

I got The White Mary today. I've received several from Shelf Awareness recently, the Aviary Gate and The Glimmer Palace among others.
