This is quite a book! It would be quite helpful if I ever move on to endurance sports. (As it is, 5ks are just about my speed at present.) It is very comprehensive. ( )

This is a comprehensive review of nutritional factors for cyclists, swimmers, runners, and bicyclists. It's not too technical for the average person, and seems up-to-date. ( )

Pretty much a catch all for endurance athletes that want to know about nutrition. It has a meal plan section even for vegetarians. Lots of info for all areas and aspects of what you should be eating and when you should be eating for those in the endurance game. Good book for someone planning on running a marathon or other endurance race. Will give you a leg up on someone who doesnt know whats in the book.

Human Kinetics delivers again in their series of high quality health and fitness books. This book, Endurance Sports Nutrition by Suzanne Girard Eberle (a former elite runner) hits every aspect of nutrition needed for endurance athletes. The book nicely breaks it in 2 parts, nutrition strategies for endurance athletes and nutrition plans for specific events. Part 1 includes chapters about meeting energy demands, losing and gaining weight, using supplements, eating for vegetarians, meal planning and more. This section could apply to any one interested in fitness. Part 2 focuses on event specific nutrition and includes chapters on short, long, ultra and multi-day distance events. It also covers rowing and open water swimming, extreme heat and cold and high altitude. The book finishes with a great selection appendixes on vitamins, conversion charts and more. If you are a runner from 5k to 100+ miles or a triathlete or cyclist this is the book for you. It's sure to help your performance and should be part of your fitness library. ( )
