First, the book is relatable to students because majority of students have older or younger siblings. Students will be able to relate to Karen’s feeling of not wanting to bring her younger sister Rosie with her friends to the beach. Second, although the book shows sibling trouble, the pace and organization of the story shows why Karen is happy to have her sister with her. “She was beginning to be glad her sister had come along after all.” This shows that while Karen was annoyed with her sister, she ultimately is happy to have her around. The main message of this story is that children should use their words when they are feeling upset and the mother directly portrays this within the story. “When people make you angry, you should try telling them that. They might not even know you’re angry.” ( ) This is a cute story that has a main idea of loving your family. The older sister through out the story get s frustrated her younger sister tags along her play date. After getting ditched and bullied by her friend, she realizes that she will always have her sister and should always be glad to have her along side. The story is very relatable for young kids who have older siblings and also kids who have been bullied. “ Then you can’t sit here. Go sit with the little kids where you belong!” This is one of the times bullying is shown though out the story. This story is tad long but has a great message of how important family really is how to deal with your feelings. no reviews | add a review
