The magician tells him that he turned the dog into a duck. The boy has to return to his friends without the dog. Alan was watching his neighbors dog one day when he took Fritz on a walk and Fritz ran away from him. Alan came to a magicians house and asked for Fritz. The magician took him to the back yard and told him that he turned Fritz into a duck. Alan chased the duck but it flew away. He went back to tell Mrs. Hester that he lost Fritz and as he showed up sad, he noticed that Fritz was there with Mrs. Hester. She told Alan that the magician played a trick on Alan. This book had no color so it was boring looking. However, the book did have a good story and a good lesson to it. Children love magic so it would be an excited read for them and the teacher could also tell them to be careful who they play tricks on. An excellent book for more experienced readers. Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 039527804X, Hardcover)Sometimes that very thin line between illusion and reality is not as clearly defined as we would like it to be. It certainly wasn't the day that Alan Mitz stumbled into the garden of Abdul Gasazi. For in this bizarre and eerie place -- where strange topiary trees loomed -- the evil visage of Gasazi casts its shadow. And even after Alan escaped, the spell of Gasazi still seemed to penetrate into his everyday world. In this extraordinary, unusual, and unique picture book, Chris Van Allsburg explores both the real and surreal worlds with incredible deftness. In doing so, he has created exquisite and beautiful images that will continue to haunt readers long after they have left the enchanted garden of Abdul Gasazi.(retrieved from Amazon Tue, 05 Jan 2010 15:35:08 -0500) The first test round has been closed.
