None. A clever story about a dog that went into a magician's garden and was magically transformed. This book is good to teach adjectives ( )You will go on an adventure with a boy and a mischief making dog. They will encounter a magician and the dog will become a duck. Nice black and white pictures in this book, the sketches are filled with emotion and action. This is Chris Van Allsburg's first Caldecott award book. It is an excellent story of a boy (Alan) who is hired to watch a dog (Fritz). After the dog runs into a garden where no dogs are permitted, Alan works hard to find him, only to hear that Mr. Gasazi turned him into a duck. Later, Fritz turns up at home and the idea of magic plays heavily into the conclusion of the story. This was a very interesting, and magical story that followed a boy and a run-away dog. I love the magical feel of the book, especially at the end, and the beautiful illustrations only add to the mystical ambiance. This could be a great book for all elementary school children! Alan is suppose to watch over a dog until it runs away in a forbidden garden that belongs to a magician. He chases after the dog but not fast enough. He knocks on the magicians door hoping to get the dog back. The magician tells him he turned the dog into a duck. no reviews | add a review
Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 039527804X, Hardcover)Sometimes that very thin line between illusion and reality is not as clearly defined as we would like it to be. It certainly wasn't the day that Alan Mitz stumbled into the garden of Abdul Gasazi. For in this bizarre and eerie place -- where strange topiary trees loomed -- the evil visage of Gasazi casts its shadow. And even after Alan escaped, the spell of Gasazi still seemed to penetrate into his everyday world. In this extraordinary, unusual, and unique picture book, Chris Van Allsburg explores both the real and surreal worlds with incredible deftness. In doing so, he has created exquisite and beautiful images that will continue to haunt readers long after they have left the enchanted garden of Abdul Gasazi. (retrieved from Amazon Thu, 14 Feb 2013 13:45:50 -0500) When the dog he is caring for runs away from Alan into the forbidden garden of a retired dog-hating magician, a spell seems to be cast over the contrary dog.
