When a contest at the local library offers a prize for the best story, a girl tries to write one using her family's suggestions, but her story does not seem right until she listens to her heart.

This story is great for young writers. It is about the school library having a contest for the best story and this little girl wants to participate. The girl's brother tells her to add action. Her father tells her how funny stories are the best and her aunt tells her that stories should make someone cry. After writing the story, the girl doesn't feel right. After talking to her mom, she tells her to just write her own story how she wants. Finally, she decides to write about her family. The story is great and although it doesn't tell the contest results, it does look at the writing aspect of the story.

This book is the story of a little who wants to enter a writing contest to meet her favorite author. She is set out to write the best story and learns along the way the best story is written from the heart. This book can be used while teaching the writing process and goal setting. ( )

This story teaches a lesson that as long as you are happy with your work then the opinions of others does not matter unless you are trying to make money of course. The girl is trying so hard to write the 'best' story when all along she has her personal favorite which is her own story. This is a fun book that can keep students engaged until the end. ( )

This book really encouraged the reader to write. It emphasized the importance of writing about what is important to you, the writer, instead of just pandering to different audiences. We see this when the narrator keeps getting advice from her family, but never feels like the story is quite right. It isn't until she asks her mom that she is told that the best stories come from your heart, inspiring the narrator to right a story about what she cared about her friends and family. ( )
