I see, but it seems unnatural to me--I would refer to him as "White," not "White Jr." The MLA handbook also prescribes "White, R..., Jr." as the first element in a Works Cited entry, not "White Jr., ...".
More to the point, though, if it works with "White, Richard, (Editor)", why not mine? It ... ... soon continued reading the newspapers on my own, racing my father for the paper each morning.
