Kate sets herself for major embarrassment when her fiance calls off the wedding the morning of the event. Mortified that her book launch will be ruined, Kate agrees when her friend Lucas suggests that he be her groom. Of course he is in love with Kate and over the course of their fake wedding, Kate discovers that actually she is in love with him as well, despite their differences. I especially liked the progression of Kate's character where she learns to be vulnerable and not try to control everything. ( )

Kate Lawrence has almost everything ticked off on her checklist. A career she loves as an advice columnist, a new book poised to hit the bestseller list, and a picturesque wedding on Nantucket. The only problem is that five hours before the ceremony, Kate's fiance dumps her. Left with the prospect of the media circus when one of the nation's foremost relationship experts is jilted at the altar, Kate is relieved but surprised when Lucas Wright offers to stand in for the groom. Why would this man she barely knows make such an offer?

A fluffy gentle romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. Exactly the kind of book you'd expect from the description. ( )

Really like this story!Lucas Wright was just a great guy, who is afraid to tell his new bride, Kate, he loves her, even though he did just agree to marry her 2 hours before the wedding. A carpenter and an marriage counselor who is jilted on the day of her wedding - what a great well-done story. ( )

Book description
From the back of the book:

She wrote the book - literally - on finding the right male. But does she really understand what love's about?

Five hours before her Nantucket wedding beach wedding - and on the eve of her big book launch - celebrity marriage counselor Kate Lawrence has everything in place. Everything, that is, but the groom. She might not have a career, either, when her nationwide audience finds out their marriage guru has been left at the alter. Enter Lucas Wright, who offer to stand in for her missing husband-to-be and marry her. Kate's desperate enough to agree - though she's sure this Mr Wright is completely wrong for her. But can they pull it off? And why would Lucas marry her in the first place? Could it be that "Dr Kate" doesn't know the first thing about love?

Denise Hunter paints an inpiring tale of enduring love set in romantic Nantucket.
