Shaun Tan just breaks my heart with all of his works. They're beautiful and life affirming and unsettling and hilarious and strange and truthful.

My favourite story in this "commonplace book" might be that of the two young brothers who set off across the wilds of suburbia to find where their street directory ends. Or it might be that of the strange little foreign exchange student, the size of a salt shaker, and the "cultural differences" his temporary family learn to appreciate.

Just one of many of Tan's little pieces of magic for all ages. ( )

That was incredibly odd and supremely enjoyable -- my favorites were "Grandpa's Story" and "Sticks". Such a unique illustration style. ( )

Words are inadequate to describe how much I adored this treasure.

I adore this book. It's a quick read, but so rich in illustrations and thought. ( )
