1. The Father Christmas Letters by J.R.R. Tolkien
This is a really neat collection of letters written by JRRT to his young children as Santa Claus, or Father Christmas if you are English. They feature the misadventures of the North Polar Bear and a few of his friends, and the problems that ... ... would be nice, but the similarities would make that seem unlikely.
I'm actually going to spend an evening with JRRT's Father Christmas Letters before I dive in to the Dickens. I really should have grabbed A Christmas Carol while at the library, but I don't think it was in. If I had seen ... Christmas won't be Christmas without Raymond Briggs' Father Christmas.
YIKES!! Touchstone has just popped up the Fr C Letters instead of Father Christmas!! No, no! Now I'll just have to hope everyone knows about the really real Father Christmas. ... Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
The Puttermesser Papers by Cynthia Ozick
Notes on a Scandal by Zoe Heller
Letters from Father Christmas by J.R.R. Tolkien ... The graphic novels of artists like Raymond Briggs were out in the 60s and 70s with his wonderful Fungus the Bogeyman, Father Christmas, When the the Wind Blows etc. Shaun Tan is simply the continuation of a long line of this ilk. I think he's brilliant. But then, I thought comics were ... ... src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0679887768.01._SX140_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg">
103. Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs. Graphic novel. A very different take on the jolly old soul. In this Briggs book we meet Father Christmas who is oh so very human ... The last 300-ish were much faster, Kirby. Hang in there! :)
I will definitely reread Letters from Father Christmas again this year. It's one of my favorite holiday reads, and it's not even a proper book. ...
It took me back to other graphics from this wonderful English illustrator - Fungus the Bogeyman, The Snowman and Father Christmas.
Highly recommended.

... I haven't read any of the other books though, with no particular reason, just haven't gotten around to them yet (except for The Father Christmas Letters, which are lovely but obviously very different.
And I do agree with JPB, the slow build up to all out war and distruction is great, ... ... The Red Tent by Anita Diamant - so I can pretend the desert island is biblical Canaan and Eygpt while I read it.
10. The Father Christmas Letters by JRR Tolkien - because it's so beautiful to read and to look at.
11. Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster - because it comforts me to read it ... I am in Wiltshire and have just finished a book (bought from an independent bookshop!) called Letters from Father Christmas by J.R.R Tolkien - a great little book! Letters from Father Christmas by J. R. R. Tolkien.

Kringle by Tony Abbott and Letters from Father Christmas by the one and only Tolkien. After reading Letters for the first time I decided when I have kids I'll do the same sort of thing. It's soo cute! Raymond Briggs Father Christmas would be perfect for this time of year. My 5 year old belly laughs when we "read" it (There is very little text) and my 10 year old still enjoys it ... explanation of History of Middle Earth at http://www.forodrim.org/daeron/md_hm.html
For his other publications, I love The Father Christmas Letters which is illustrated letters written by Father Christmas to the Tolkien children over many years, telling of his adventures at teh North Pole.
