The Da Vinci Code, a central concept stolen from The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, badly-structured, appalling prose; Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, just plain ordinary, and considerably worse than similar works by Diana Wynne Jones; anything by Kevin J Anderson... Good news: I got The Dragon Heir and the tenth anniversary edition of Sorcerer's Stone! I dare say foggi will find something she may like in the first few pages of that SS. :)
Bad news: There have been two attempted kidnappings since Thursday right where I turn onto my street after taking a ... Oh, I forgot about that. If you are talking about the gal I gave Philosopher's Stone to, I'm sure she hasn't read it.
Oh, and hey, The Other Side of the Island has a few references and mild spoilers for a few books, like The Wizard of Oz... ummm....and a HUGE spoiler for Bridge to Terabithia ... Where it ranks within LT for the total number of copies of that work.
Currently Harry Potter and the Philosopher is popularity 0 (shoud be 1st) the most owned work on LT. Anybook you alone own is shared last place popularity 2,475,937. ... of the Phoenix, and Goblet of Fire. Now, I'm listening to Prisoner of Azkaban, followed by Chamber of secrets and Sorcerer's Stone. At night when I'm in bed reading and studying, I'm listening to my burnt copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. ... that title in the country of origin.
Similarly, I think the canonical title for the first Harry Potter book should be Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
(Don't worry any and all. These are my opinions, but this isn't a big issue to me. I'm not going to mess with either of the ... ... when only one is possible, I'd go with either the original or author's preferred title, if it's possible to know. (E.g. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is Rowling's intended title, and the US version was made up by the publishers. The fact that it's the most popular title is ... ... rather than our planned every-three-weeks schedule, due to the changed release date for HBP. Since we already watched Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in August, Chamber of Secrets has been moved to October. Following that pattern, we will watch the fifth movie in April -- a little ... I finished listening to Sorceror's Stone this morning and started on Chamber of Secrets, of course I'm also still keeping up with the group read and working on The Other Boleyn Girl in my "spare time". ... hallows, which comes up in bracketed red letters. This doesn't come up with a Touchstone, but the other Potter books do: Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone.
I think the look up algorithm cuts out after a search of a certain size.

10. The neverending ... I put series in tags for sorting purposes: "series name", "number" (no quotes, of course) as the first two tags. So Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone would be tagged "harry potter, 1". Then sorting first by tags then by author gives me all series in order. This lets me keep the titles ... ... consider them separate works; are they really that different from each other? Different enough that a translation of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and the original book are closer than the two editions?
My expectation would have been that the difference between the different ... ... of the Harry Potter books, which many of you know I am avoiding at the moment. Well, I wanted to see why it recommended Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for me, and conveniently, they have a "why?" link, so I clicked it. They recommended that Harry Potter book because I have Sand County ... I remember when my mother forced me to read a little book called Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone... because my cousin went to all the trouble of picking it out for me and I should have been reading more...
Do I really need to say what happened next? I would like to know if anyone has suggestions for good Pagan Movies. I already own The Mists Of Avalon, MERLIN, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone , Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, The Blair Witch Project, The Blair Witch Project 2 Book Of Shadows, I plan on buying ... Well, doing a search on "fantasy" tags on LibraryThing doesn't help much unless you haven't read the Harry Potter novels (OK, but not great). I would start with George R. R. Martin's Song of Fire and Ice, though the series isn't finished. Patrick Rothfuss's first novel is getting a lot ... ... so much better, but it's a trade PB, so I can't give up my hardcover, either.

Animals watching the girl, strange people bowing to her or shaking her hand in public, kid finding out there's a whole other world ... ... apparently is not exactly living 'next door'.
FYI: We have got and catalogued e.g. about 28,000 copies of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone--in 50+ different languages ! ... are abandoned (I base this claim on the fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has nowhere near as many copies as Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone; it's not that people didn't buy it, but that they haven't been back to LT to catalogue it). What's expected to be the canonical title (in English) for e.g. J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone either Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone ? ... the "if you like X, you'll like y" rule of recommendations*. I think Journal of Curious Letters is quite different from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It's similar enough to say that Harry Potter fans will probably enjoy it, but it's also different enough to say that people who ... ... I would jump the gun and go ahead with a comparison review here (for simplicity's sake I'll stick with book one of HP, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone).
