Amazon.com Book Description (ISBN 0879758171, Paperback)You didn't know that Houdini was also a writer? Neither did we. But, in addition to being the greatest "escape artist" who ever lived, he was a devout student of his craft -- the art of amazement -- and its history. And a writer who will make you turn (er, click) the page again and again. And how can you not like a guy who dedicates a book like this: 'Affectionately Dedicated To My Life’s Helpmate, Who Starved And Starred With Me During The Years We Spent Among ‘‘Miracle Mongers’’: My Wife'(retrieved from Amazon Fri, 24 Apr 2009 07:58:05 -0400) The first test round has been closed. This recount of fire-eaters, sword swallower's and the like by Houdini is most revealing. He explains how the tricks are done, (sometimes) as well as the history of the performances and people involved. He must have had quite a collection of books to draw from. I would loved to have seen more diagrams and pictures explaining things but at least there are a few.
