Luke is infatuated by guns and secretly has target practice with his best friend. His parents are divorced and don’t get on. Luke lives with his mum and when she ends up in hospital, Luke’s dad takes him on a hunting weekend. Luke is appalled by the senseless killing of animals just for fun. The weekend is a disaster. The climax of the story is when Luke’s parents have a huge argument and his Dad confronts his mum with a gun.

Excellent for boys. Easy reading but exciting. ( )
