This is a very good book for beginning students of Advaita, a non-dualistic ....philosophy, for want of a better word. Liquorman writes simply and clearly in a "question and answer" format taken from one of the many retreats that he leads. Not exactly Advaita Vedanta, for he does not tie his system (or Balsekar's system, to be more accurate) to the Vedas or to Vedanta.

Liquorman, as an American, uses great metaphors and concepts in tune with Western thinking. Always entertaining in person, this also comes through in his book. But nothing can save Advaita from the fallacy of determinism.
