Spin bowlers usually take second place to fast bowlers when discussion moves to cricket feats. "The slow men" therefore is a good anecdote to this thinking.

Covering the history of slow bowlers from the nineteenth century to the 1980s, including such favourites as Clarrie Grimmett, Bill O'Reilly, Jim Laker and co. (although Shane Warne and Muttiah Murilidarin) are conspicuous by their absence; an update is required).

A good intro into the characters that make up the cavalcade of international spin bowlers, and complete with Frith's 1984 prediction that Malcolm Dolman would become one of the leading spin bowlers of the future. ( )
