While it includes well-known plays (Fuente Ovejuna, Life is a Dream, the Rogue of Seville), this book interests me most for including less well-known early plays, including The Olives by Lope de Rueda, Cervantes' Vigilant sentinel, and The Truth suspcted by Juan Ruiz de Alarcon, born of a Spanish family in Mexico, educated at the University of Mexico, but able to distinguish himself as a dramatist in Spain in the Golden Age of Lope de Vega and Calderon. The selections also include later plays down to Garcia Lorca's Blood Wedding. ( )
