Another good read from Marlowe. As usual, the protagonist (no heroes in Marlowe's books that I've seen so far) is trying as hard as he can to find a way out of a mess that is mostly his own doing. In this case he's a cop who was having (and is having) an affair with his murdered partner's wife. Not quite as intense or focused as the other Marlowe books I have read, but nothing to change my opinion that he was absolutely one of the best. ( )
