This beautiful (I'm imagining from the pictures in the ARC I received) cookbook promises to be an inspiration – to local foods, used in season, and prepared to perfection.
Although generally it is for the better cook than I, however, and trying too many of the recipes would defeat the premise of using local, seasonal foods, it contains practical, novice hints and recipes for stocks, desserts, and more. And, that most of the recipes seem to be based on distinctively west coast or northeastern farms and growing seasons, it doesn't offer much in the way of local flavor for this south Louisiana cook. (
