Work detailsIf You Give a Pig a Pancake by Laura Numeroff (1998)
None. When you give the pig a pancake he will want some syrup, then from there more events will continue. The pig will get sticky from the syrup then she'll want to take a bath. At the end she will want to put up some wallpaper and that will remind her of the syrup so then she'll ask for some pancakes I like using this book and the many other Numeroff titles to teach cause and effect. Everything is chained together in these so nicely. Kids like them too. Summary: If you Give a Pig a Pancake is about a little pig who is given a pancake. The story goes on with lots of different things the pig wants to go with the pancake. It goes along with a "If you give a pig...then he'll probably want..." format. Personal Reaction: This book is one of my all time favorties. I have read it tons of times! I love the way the story is illustrated also, the pig is given human characteristics like sitting at the kitchen table and eating with a fork or taking a bath with toys. I think children most enjoy books where the characters are animals given human characteristics. Classroom Extension: This book would be a great way to teach children to pay attention to repetition and patterns of words. Summary: This book is about how a pig might act if you give her a pancake. She is not just happy with the pancake; she is going to want some syrup to go on it. If you give her syrup then she might get all sticky and chances are she is going to want to wash up. And then washing up leads to something else that she is going to want. When you get to the end and think that she can not possibly want anything else she will surprise you and you just might be right back at the beginning. Personal Reaction: To me this book shows what you will do for a friend or pet. Classroom Extension Ideas: We could read the book If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and talk about having friends. My daughter's favorite book! no reviews | add a review Is contained in
