BL Book Club member Jordan started reading this to H earlier this week, but we finished it today. Stellaluna is a classic (and I didn't realize it was a debut!) about a baby separated from her mother, and feeling confusion and shame at not being able to do the same things as her temporary adoptive family even though there are similarities. The artwork is exquisite (we also picked up [b:Verdi|970061|Verdi|Janell Cannon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1347311292l/970061._SX50_.jpg|2415351] during this library trip), with pen and ink illustrations of Stellaluna's mother looking for her on the text page across from the full illustration.

Honestly going to go through the reading rainbow books, probably. ( )
