Bogen bliver fortalt af pigen Abby. Omdrejningspunktet er hendes familie, men i særdeleshed hendes faster Lillian, som har haft stor betydning for hele familien. Efter at fasteren pludselig rejser til Vietnam falder familien fra hinanden og Abby beskriver alle minderne fra en svunden tid.
Bogen er utrolig sjovt beskrevet og man kan levende forstille sig den meget specielle og lidt skøre faster Lillian. Ulempen ved bogen er efter min mening at den springer for meget frem og tilbage i tid, hvilket bryder læsningen meget. ( )
