Marshall was one of my father's favoured cricketers. Coincidentally, they shared a name and a fatal ilness. Twenty years on, this autobiography written at the height of Marshall's career is likely to interest nobody except those who knew him or shared a personal link such as mine. Patrick Symes writes effectively and Marshall was surprisingly open in expressing his opinions of people with whom he was still playing but there is little to distinguish this account from other sporting autobiographies.
