The art is by Synthia Saint James, the same artist for "No Mirror's in My Nana's House." Beautiful. Set in the projects, five friends get up together early on Saturday morning before their mothers give them "something to do." The story descibes each friend in detail, highlighting their special qualities. They ride bikes, recyle cans for money to see the dollar movies. They walk with linked arms and climb trees. very sweet story.

Five friends get together one glorious Saturday morning. They want to get away from the Projects, where their mothers will find them something to do, and away from little brothers, who spy on them. These girls could ride bikes. They could collect bottles for the recycler to get money for the movies. But they decide to go climb trees, and off they go--Hey, hey!--linking arms.
