LOVE these books! Weather is always a popular topic and this book is so broad in it's coverage (pun intended) that you could use it in a variety of ways - it really helps students organize a large variety of information. The historical aspect of the topics covered makes this a cross-curricular gem. You could literally use the book in 3 or 4 subjects on the same day and never discuss the same bit of information.

Weather is beautifully illustrated with detailed, full-color photography. The text is an assortment of facts and explanations for numerous natural processes, mostly at a summary level. Additional features include a table of contents, an index, and a glossary. The result is an engaging magazine-style format, which serves as an introduction to the subject. Its selection is best for middle school readers. ( )

Wind, rain, snow, fog, frost, and sunshine are all signs of the constant shifting Earth's atmosphere. This continual change is what we call weather. The weather changes in four ways - its movement, which can bring winds; its temperature, which can cause anything from frost to heatwaves; its moisture content, which can bring rain; and its pressure, which can cause cloudless days or fierce storms -- taken from wall chart.… (more)
