I recommend What's the Matter with Kansas, The Wrecking Crew, and Why Americans Hate Politics. Farheed Zakaria is a better choice than Michelle Malkin, who is something of a nut job, IMHO. Hi Mark, My husband has Wrecking Crew on deck so I've been leafing through it. It's pretty interesting but I agree about the sick to your stomach stuff! I have the same reaction as Richard. This guy is my favorite political writer! (Not that I read a a lot of them, but that's besides the point). He takes on the "Conservatives" full steam and you will feel sick to your stomach for most of the ride but the world ... I finished The Wrecking Crew by Thomas Frank. He's my favorite political writer and he has come up with a gem. He tackles the "Conservatives" head-on. I read most of it with a strong sense of dread. It was like passing a particularly nasty car wreck, you cannot help but gape at the carnage. Th ... ... I can officially join the jubilant masses. I also have to track down this author's other books. What a talent!
I started The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule by Thomas Frank. This guy rules! It's horrifying, depressing and endlessly fascinating. I'm starting The Wrecking Crew by Thomas Frank. I read and loved his last book, What's the Matter With Kansas and this one looks to be just as good. From Amazon:

One of our weekend expeditions brought me to my local Borders, where I found the new Thomas Frank The Wrecking Crew on sale.
It was wanly amusing to read about the many failures of conservative governance while freezing in the dark.

Then, he should read The Wrecking Crew: How Conservatives Rule, to understand just why the Republican Party is intransigent, and Conservatives without Conscience as well.
