... P. D. James' An Unsuitable Job for a Woman; Kate Ardleigh from the Victorian mysteries by Robin Paige, beginning with Death at Bishop's Keep; Robert B. Parker has a female detective, Sunny Randall, but I can't remember what the first novel with her was and there are a lot more of them than ... How fun! Have you read the Beatrix Potter series? I read one of the mysteries Susan and her husband wrote as Robin Paige and Beatrix was a minor character in it.
Of course, reading your post is just making me drool and realize how pathetically far behind I am! ... first book in each series. That is the way i like to read series. I plan to pick at least one of these series--perhaps Death at Bishop's Keep because I love Victorian England. I'm also planning to read a fantasy book I got for Christmas that takes place partly in Victorian England--To Say ... ... enjoyment is provided by Meg's family and friends, as loony a group as you're likely to find.
