Three Musketeers
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
King Solomon's Mines
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer Mountains shaped like breasts say King Solomon's Mines to me. I finished King Solomon's Mines which was alright. Not as good as Kidnapped by Robert louis Stevenson, which is my favorite adventure novel. Tarzan was better as well. There was too much big game hunting. Overall, a bit of a let down though there were some good parts.

I recently finished King Solomon's Mines and found I enjoyed it more than anything I'd read in some time. I've been left with an urge to run off to Africa and go looking for diamonds. If you' ... This was a librivox recording. I'd listened to King Solomon's Mines up in message 7, and loathed it. So part of me wondered what on earth I was doing listening to another Haggard book, but I'm glad I did. This one was really good. It would make a great movie - ... I'm on board a ship bound for Africa with the hunter Alan Quartermaine and a variety of interesting Victorian gentlemen in King Solomon's Mines. I've started H. Rider Haggard's King Solomon's Mine. Totally and completely politically incorrect, but great fun nonetheless. H. Rider Haggard. Huh, not touchstoning either. King Solomon's Mines or She, for instance. Well, since the only K books I've read are Kim and King Solomon's Mines, I'm going to have to pick Kim, but "favorite" isn't really appropriate here. Kim is the least bad of the two. Just finished King Solomon's Mines which was not bad at all. Started The Lovely Bones yesterday and it's just amazing. The story is just so compelling. I think this one is going straight to my best-reads-in-2008-list. I just finished King Solomon's Mines which brings my total from the list to an even 50!! And I even enjoyed the story, so that really is a plus :) Read the last chapter of King Solomon's Mines just now and it was a very enjoyable read. Interesting story, characters not too bad. So that was my no. 21!
I have no idea what will be next, but I have a great stack of books waiting for me, so it will be nice to pick one. Started King Solomon's Mines last week and I'm still reading that (well, haven't made any progress actually...I long for the day that I'm rich and famous and can just read all day! ^^). ... by The Dice Man, I selected six from my TBR pile, all of which are on the 1001 list. I rolled the dice and it selected King Solomon's Mines, which turns out to have been on my TBR pile for about 7 years so it's a good one to polish off! Started the first chapter and I think I will like it. I ... Just started King Solomon's Mines last night. Looks like a good read. I noticed I bought it 7 years ago when I was working for a few months in Paris. There was this one bookstore that only had English books: The Shakespeare Company (the book had a stamp in front). Oh goody! Time for an old-fashioned, colonialist, racist, jingoistic adventure story with lots of war! And killing off of innocent characters to avoid inter-racial romance!
