A story of two brothers, both in love with the same woman. This, of course, leads to treachery. When the older brother, thought to have been murdered at sea, shows up alive, he disguises himself to move his younger brother, who hired the man to kill him, toward remorse. A fairly standard story in the romantic tradition, and an interesting period piece. ( )
