Read my review on My Blog. Here's a snippet:Originality: 5Characters: 4Writing: 5Setting: 4Plot: 5Passion: 4Overall: 27/30 90% = ACover Bonus: 0 The plot of this book sounds rather corny but somehow it is pulled off rather well in my opinion. The story is about a normal girl named Jessica that discovers she is a vampire princess! A mysterious boy (aren't they all) comes to town and claims to be her betrothed and a vampire prince, and if the two do not get married, their family clans will war. I really loved this book...or at least I did right up until the very end. I just felt the ending was rushed as if the author thought: "Oh, I should wrap this up now!"I would love to have been given more information on Lucius' climatic encounter with Vasile (his evil uncle). Also, once the problem between Jessica and Lucius has been resolved, the book ends without showing the audience any of their consequences. These problems were minor in comparison to the book as a whole. It was overall an enjoyable book if you can forgive a rushed ending. The main plus for me about this book was Lucius' letters to Vasile--this book is worth getting just for that! This was a fun read. I thought the end wrapped up a little too quickly and a little predictable. This book starts out with a somewhat lighthearted, if rather strange, tone; a high school girl growing up in small town America is confronted with a boy from Romania who claims to be her betrothed, as well as a vampire. This tone is carried to about the halfway point of the book and then it gets gradually darker, as the main character begins to accept her heritage. During this time, her Romanian suitor goes from "freaky new kid" to "suddenly popular basketball star" to "freaky, potentially dangerous, new kid" to "full-fledged Dracula wannabe." My head was spinning just enough that I could not quite decide what to make of the character, myself. The main character, however, with all of her inner and outer struggles, kept me intrigued enough to read on. no reviews | add a review

Lucius not only claims to be her betrothed but he is also claiming that Jessica is a Romanian vampire princess by birth - and if the two do not get married, their family clans will war. Talk about putting a screeching halt to her plans for the perfect school year.
Luckily for Jessica or Antanasia (her Romanian birth name), Lucius brought along a helpful copy of Growing Up Undead: A Teen Vampire's Guide to Dating, Health, and Emotions to help ease her way from average American teenager to glam European vampire princess. But will Jessica give up her normal life and embrace her darker nature?
I had such fun reading this! It is definitely not your typical vampire/love story. Jessica is this silly girl - she has this great sense of humor and sarcastic tone that I found quite amusing. Lucius was the dark and brooding vampire - but also sooo funny with his take on American culture. They are both very likable characters that you not only relate to and like but will also be rooting for from the start. They are both strong-willed, opinionated and had great chemistry. I loved their constant bickering. Although Jessica would frustrate me at times (yes, the girl would not believe in a vampire if he bit her) but in the end I thought both characters grew and became exactly who you hoped they would be.
The story is told through both Jessica and Lucius’ perspectives. I absolutely loved reading Lucius’ letters to his Uncle Vasile. These were hilarious and by far the funniest moments in the story. Another nice touch was how easily Ms. Fantaskey went from the rural Pennsylvania setting to the exoticness of the Carpathian mountains in Romania. I seriously had issues putting this book down - at no point was I sure what was going to happen. Jessica didn't like Lucius; then Lucius didn't like Jessica; there was no hope for a future... should you keep hoping... oh no. I mean I was taken in by the whole "bloody" [pun intended] mess.
All in all, this was very enjoyable and quick read. It is funny, romantic, action-packed and definitely keeps you guessing. I highly recommend to young adults as well as lovers of paranormal YA. (
