David Liss-The Whiskey Rebels is one ... urge you to read either that or The Lions of Al-Rassan. If you like historical fiction and a complex story, David Liss' The Whiskey Rebels is good (although I think I would admit he's not necessarily a FAVORITE of mine).

Somewhat apropos to our current economic crisis. ... It is engaging historical fiction involving Alexander Hamilton with Aaron Burr lurking in the background.

I enjoyed this book very much - I love historical fiction (and non-fiction, too) and Amer ... I liked The Whiskey Rebels a lot too, when I read it last year. That whole period in American history seems so neglected - I hardly remember anything about it from school. I love how Liss manages to write interesting historical fiction about subjects that are basically financial. I don't ... Suslyn - glad you stopped by. #4 - I read Octavian Nothing - I had mixed feelings about it as well - I think it would have been better without all the gimmicks - I also don't plan on ... The Whiskey Rebels takes place a few years after the Revolutionary War, when George Washington is President, but one of the characters was a spy during the war and many of the Founding Fathers figure prominently in the story. I'm reading My Just Desire at lunch. My at-home reading is The Whiskey Rebels and will probably finish it early next week. Book 25 is The Whiskey Rebels by David Liss. Also from Amazon Vine, and an outstanding book. Review is up at Amazon. ... at lunch yesterday. My copy is, technically, a hardcover -- which is the reason I gave in #97 for not bringing The Whiskey Rebels as lunch reading. But My Just Desire is shorter, and therefore lighter (and not to mention secondhand). Am near the end of the first 3rd of The Whiskey Rebels by David Liss. It took me some time to get used to the narrator. Story is absolutely great. Yes, Caspe, I did alright on that one.

It's Susan, the blonde you occasionally run into at T-fest and/or in the back of a limousine. I have been recommending The Whiskey Rebels everywhere, and everyone who reads it seems to enjoy it as much as I did. We will be discussing it at the book club I run tonight.

The Whiskey Rebels was a bonus batch book from July. Murder on the Eiffel Tower is from the main batch in August. You can get a book from each batch, so unless something really bizarre is happening like if you didn't request The Whiskey Rebels, I'd say you just got it the normal way. I'm reading Whiskey Rebels for the Early Reviewers program right now, but yesterday when I could get to a computer but not my book I read the first quarter or so of So Dark the Night. I'm looking forward to getting back to it. ... according to the generic memo accompanying it, I received due to my participation in LT ER. And it wasn't MOTET, it was The Whiskey Rebels.
