Some of it was even useful, despite it being firmly aimed at 20-somethings - and fashion geek 20-somethings, at that. Despite her rationale about the best-dressed people get the promotions, I never will be - and never was - as interested in designer clothes as she and her case studies are. $300 jeans? Sorry, _not_. That aside, there are some suggestions that make a lot of sense. Some of the information on freelancing was new to me (Freelancers' Union for health insurance, for instance). And her categories of Need, Want-need, and Want are an excellent way to look at one's finances. There are things that cannot possibly be categorized as needs - books, for instance - that are a major part of my quality-of-life equation. The in-between category of Want-need lets me say that these things, while not _needs_ - I would physically survive if I had to do without - are far more important in my budget than simple Wants. That one concept gave me a new way to think about my budget and expenses - that alone made the book worth reading. The other useful stuff was icing on the cake. BTW, I read the book because I was doing an Intuit Town Hall show with the author as one of the moderators. ( )no reviews | add a review
